PRINCETON — Princeton’s Brooke Jensen will fulfill a dream of continuing her basketball career by signing this week to play for Asbury College and coach Debbie Powell in Wilmore, Ky.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to play college basketball,” Jensen said. “I started thinking about playing somewhere in Kentucky, and coach Powell called me and kept asking me to come down and visit the campus. Once I did, I knew that I wanted to play there.”

Jensen, the BCR Co-Player of the Year and a NCIC Lincoln first team all-conference selection, helped the Tigresses to their best season in school history by advancing to the Supersectional where they saw their season come to an end with a loss to Stark County.

The 6-foot center gave opponents fits throughout her career, hitting jump shot after jump shot and averaging around 15 points a game, this past season for Princeton.

“Coach Powell really likes my outside shot, and it looks like I will play the small or power forward,” Jensen said. “I think it will end up being the small forward spot which is nice, because I really like to shoot the three-point shot. I didn’t have to shoot it much in high school, but I do like to shoot it.”

First-year Princeton coach Spencer Davis is excited for his standout.

“There is no doubt in my mind how good she can be,” Davis said. “I know she had one of the two or three best careers at Princeton, but I think her best years are ahead of her.

“More than a good basketball player, Brooke is a great kid,” Davis said. “I am really proud of her, and any time one of your former players goes onto college to play and get an education is a great feeling.”
