Walnut man charged with weapon, alcohol offenses

UTICA — Brian J. Butler, 42, of Walnut was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon and illegal transportation of alcohol on Interstate 80 Jan. 17.

According to a report from the Illinois State Police, Butler was stopped for improper display of registration and no rear registration light westbound on Interstate 80 at Mile Marker 82 and one-half, about one and one-half miles from the Utica exit.

The trooper observed an open can of beer and a semi-automatic pistol inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle also turned up a switchblade knife.
