Library fundraiser

OHIO, Ill. — The Ohio Public Library District will show “Snowbuddies,” a Disney film at noon May 4 at the Apollo Theatre in Princeton. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12. Advance tickets are available at: Ohio Public Library, Walnut Public Library, Matson Public Library, LaMoille-Clarion Library, and Citizens First State Bank in Ohio, Walnut and Wyanet. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. This is a fundraiser to assist the library is growing its children’s book collection.

Cholesterol screening

PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital and Centrue Bank will offer a health screening from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Friday in the White Oak Classroom at the hospital. A lipid profile test, which includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides, will be offered at $22. The following other tests will also be offered: Chemistry Profile for $28, Thyroid-TSH for $20, Simple Total Cholesterol for $7, Glucose (drawn from the vein) for $6, Hemogram for $6, PSA for $30 and blood pressure checks will be offered at no charge. All tests, except the PSA and Thyroid-TSH, require a 12-hour fasting. Participants are asked to bring their physician’s name and address to the screening. Tests cannot be completed without this information. To schedule an appointment, call (815) 876-3313 prior to Wednesday.

Trip planned

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Center will sponsor a trip to Conover Square and the John Deere Museum in Dixon on May 19. The bus will leave the senior center at 9 a.m. The cost is $13, which will cover transportation and the admission to the John Deere Museum. Lunch will be on your own. To sign up, call the senior center at (815) 879-3981. Payment is due by May 12.

Special event

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Center will host a Senior Citizen’s Day/Open House from 1 to 3 p.m. May 9. The event will include entertainment, door prizes, booths, cake and punch. All Bureau County citizens are invited to attend.
