DARIEN, Wis. — Everett Burns Chambers, 82, formerly of Princeton, died Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Born Aug. 29, 1925, in Galena, Ohio, to Lester and Eda (Stout) Chambers, he married Charline Ann Pacey Dec. 27, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio. She survives.

He graduated from Galena High School in 1943. He received his pastoral training at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Otterbein College and Eastern Baptist Seminary. His first ministry was in Lucky Fork, Ky., where he served as pastor of the Faith Hill Mission Church and taught school in a mountain one-room school house. After his ordination in May 1958, by the American Baptist Churches of U.S.A., he served churches in Jerseyville and Princeton, Ill., Walworth, Wis., Kokomo, Ind., and interims in Ohio. He worked as regional director of development for Judson University for three years.

In each community, he took an active part in the local ministerial association, served on local community boards and also on the American Baptist Association and state board. He belonged to several organizations, including Rotary, Lions Club and Boy Scouts of America, and was active in supporting foreign missions, working onsite teaching and ministering in Haiti, Nicaragua and El Salvador.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mary Dawn Chambers-Foltman of McHenry, Kathryn (Daniel) Mager of Columbia, Ill., and Marsha (Charles) Walker of Lake in the Hills; one son, Timothy (Dacia) Chambers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Shirley (Arthur) Houk of Washington, Elsie Williams of Ohio and Mary Dell (David) Nisbet of Ohio; one brother, Eldon Chambers of Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Darien Community Baptist Church, Darien, Wis., with the Rev. John Mancusi officiating. Burial will be in the Brick Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in the church.
