PRINCETON — Singer/ songwriter Edie Carey will appear at the Princeton Coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Based in Boston, Carey is known for her unmistakable honeyed voice, her intelligent, heart-grabbing songs, but perhaps most for her warm, engaging presence. Carey has been performing more than 200 shows a year at festivals, colleges, and listening rooms in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom since 1999.

Drawn from her own experiences and the stories of those around her, Carey’s poetic lyrics are the focal point of her songs. She has recently released her fifth album, “Another Kind of Fire.” In praising it, the Chicago Sun-Times said, “Carey may have started out wanting to be a doctor but she found her true calling in music. Her pop-folk songs are smart tales of love, life and longing.”

Carey has shared stages with Ani DiFranco, Sandra Bernhard, Catie Curtis, Norah Jones, Lucy Kaplan-sky, and Leo Kottke and is a regular headliner at Boston’s legendary Club Passim, Schuba’s (Chicago), Café Montmartre (Madison), and The Living Room (New York City).

The Princeton Coffee-house is located at the Open Prairie UCC Church, 25 E. Marion St. The venue is completely handicapped accessible and there is ample free parking.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $8 at the door. Coffee, teas, soft drinks and homemade desserts are available for purchase. For more information, see www.theprincetoncoffeehouse.com, or call (815) 875-4455.
