Fun fair
DEPUE — A Child Awareness Fun Fair, sponsored by AMVETS 26 and the DePue VFW, will be Sept. 20 at the DePue VFW Hall. Anyone interested in volunteering or donating, or those wanting more information, should call Arlin or Connie Schmutz at (815) 872-8361.
Book club
PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will hold its next meeting at 4 p.m. June 12 in the community meeting room at the library. The group will discuss “Atonement” by Ian McEwan. Everyone is invited to join the group is discussing the book. The group is sponsored by Friends of Princeton Public Library.
Party in the park
TISKILWA — The community is invited to share in cake and ice cream as the Tiskilwa Historical Society celebrates its second anniversary beginning at 7 p.m. Monday in the West Park. Following a brief program, participants may join in a game of bocci ball or bag toss. In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be held in the community room at the Tiskilwa fire station.
Acoustic Cafe
PRINCETON — The next Acoustic Cafe will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Darius Miller Park in Princeton. This event is open to anyone interested in attending, whether to play or just listen. This will be a circle jam format. Anyone interested in storytelling (short stories) is also invited to attend. Kasbeer Bible school
KASBEER — Kasbeer Community Church Vacation Bible School, originally scheduled for June 9-13, will not begin until Tuesday. It will meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. For more information, call (815) 376-7344 or (815) 376-2158.
Legion meeting
SPRING VALLEY — The Dominic Oberto Post will host a steak fry at its next meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Immaculate Conception School. Make your reservation for the steak fry by calling Jake Barto at (815) 664-5171 or Jim Taylor at (815) 664-2509. Members are reminded to bring their own utensils for the dinner. New officers will be installed. The July regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. July 10.
