Flag day services

PRINCETON — The Princeton Elks Lodge will hold Flag Day services at 6 p.m. Saturday at the  Elks Lodge, 1105 E. Peru St. A soup, sandwich and dessert meal will be served immediately following the service.

Lions Club meeting

PRINCETON — The Princeton Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Kramer’s Kitchen. Those interested in knowing about the mission of Lions International and the Princeton Club are invited to attend or to call Lion Jim at (815) 872-6181.

Auxiliary meeting

PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will conduct its monthly veterans workshop beginning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend. For information, call Clara Pease at (815) 872-0430.

Book sale

PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a book sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the north lobby of the hospital.

Bake sale

PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a bake sale from 7 a.m. to noon Friday in the north lobby of the hospital.

Library event

NEPONSET — The Neponset Public Library will participate in “More on 34” with materials for sale on the premises from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Sale items will include children’s books, adult fiction and non-fiction, including several volumes on art history, antiques, cookbooks, quilting, etc. Also available will be tape cassettes (music), vinyl LPs, and pictures donated by the state library.

Community concert

PRINCETON — The Princeton Community Band will continue its series of summer concerts at 7 p.m. Sunday with “Sounds of the Sixties”. Participants will be enjoy the nostalgia of music from that swinging decade, including tunes from popular music, movies, musicals, and television. This free concert, weather permitting, will be at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. The band is under the direction of Jeremy Lehman.

Citywide sales

DEPUE — The DePue citywide garage sales will be June 20-21. To be included on the map, residents should call the village clerk at (815) 447-2177. Maps will be available at  the clerk’s office, Casey’s and Citizens Bank.
