Edith Nelson
BUDA — Edith D. Nelson, 88, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, died at 4:44 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Orchard View Rehabilitation and Health Care.
Born Nov. 20, 1919, in Wyanet to William “Day” and Edith Margaret (Babcock) Young, she married Walter C. Nelson June 28, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo. He died Oct. 31, 2001.
She was a 1937 graduate of Wyanet High School. A homemaker and farmer’s wife, she worked at Hollywood Vassarrette in Princeton and the Morris Foundation in Buda. She also did tax work.
She was a member of Community Bible Church of Wyanet.
Surviving are three daughters, Edith (James) Allison of Dawson Springs, Ky., Rosalie (Larry) Kerrick of Wyanet and Mary (Charles) Skinner of Calamus, Iowa; one son, Walter (Rose) Nelson Jr. of Wyanet; one sister, Roberta (Ralph) Patty of Princeton; one brother, William (Virginia) Young of Niangua, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; two aunts, Effie Cunningham of Sheffield and Nellie Eggum of Montana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Little and June Reynolds; and one great-grandson, Cody Allison.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Community Bible Church of Wyanet with Pastor Steve D. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday in the church.
