4-H Sale of Champions held at close of annual 4-H Fair

PRINCETON — The Bob Talbot Memorial 4-H Sale of Champions was held July 19 at the close of the annual Bureau County 4-H Fair.

Results for this year’s sale, now in its 11th year, are as follows:

• Grand Champion Market Beef (1,285 pounds), owned by Brittany McCune of Manlius Boys & Girls 4-H Club, and sold to Michlig Ag & Consolidated Grain & Barge for $5 pound.

• Reserve Grand Champion Market Beef (1,275 pounds), owned by Jolett Rod of Clarion Comets 4-H Club, and sold to Vaessen Brothers, Michlig Ag, Milledgeville Vet Clinic, Pioneer Hi-Bred and Rodney Pioneer Sales for $3.50/pound.

• Grand Champion Market Hog (290 pounds), owned by Bryce Walters of Walnut Winners 4-H Club, and sold to Sale of Champions Supporters for $8/pound.

• Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog (229 pounds), owned by Matthew Murphy of Bureau County Super South 4-H Club, and sold to Cargill for $7/pound.

• Grand Champion Market Lamb (127 pounds), owned by Bryce Walters of Walnut Winners 4-H Club, and sold to Consolidated Grain & Barge for $6/pound.

• Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb (132 pounds), owned by Bryce Walters of Walnut Winners 4-H Club, and sold to Citizen’s First State Bank of Walnut for $4.25/pound.

• Grand Champion Market Goat, owned by Brady Nordstrom of Bureau County Super South 4-H Club and sold to Grieff Auto Tech & Karl Schultz Insurance for $500.

• Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat, owned by Brady Nordstrom of Bureau County Super South and sold to Cargill for $675.

• Grand Champion Meat Pen Rabbits, owned by Megan Hendrickson of Bureau County Open Door 4-H Club and sold to the Pete May family for $250.

• Reserve Champion Meat Pen Rabbits, owned by Danae Ross of Western Winning Wonders 4-H Club and sold to Steve Gerdes/Gerdes Farm Office for $225.

• Grand Champion Waterfowl Meat Production Pen owned by Joanna Klein of Clarion Comets 4-H Club and sold to Consolidated Grain & Barge for $225.

• Reserve Grand Champion Waterfowl Meat Production Pen owned by Luke Zehr of Bureau County Open Door 4-H Club and sold to Dever Feeds for $250.
