Book club meeting

PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will hold its next meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday in the community room of the library. The group will discuss “The Shadow Catcher” by Marianne Wiggins. Anyone is invited to join the group in discussing the book.

PADS to meet

OGLESBY — P.A.D.S., the local homeless shelter, will hold its monthly board of directors meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Room C325 at Illinois Valley Community College. Anyone interested in serving on the board of directors for Illinois Valley P.A.D.S. and has experience in not-for-profit organizations should attend the meeting. The public is also invited. Monet program

MANLIUS — Scott Shepherd will perform a theatrical impersonation of the most famous impressionists in the world, Claude Monet, at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Bureau Valley High School auditorium. Shepherd has performed for more than 10 years in the BVHS district. He has impersonated Degas Leonardo, Rodin, Michelangelo, Renoir and Van Gogh to the delight of audiences from all ages. Through discussion, slides, and audience reenactments of some of Monet’s famous works, all people will begin to understand the man as well as the artist. His performance of Monet is suitable for all ages. The performance is free to the public through a grant written by Sheila Heth from The Sun Foundation and The Illinois Arts Council. Also on display will be an exhibit of some of Monet’s most famous paintings including “Waterlilies”. This exhibit will be in the BVHS Commons area and was paid for through Art Club.

Ham supper

PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will hold its fifth annual ham supper on Nov. 1 at the post home, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton. Serving will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with tickets available at the door. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children 5-10. The menu will include baked ham, scalloped potatoes, scalloped corn, green beans, gelatin salads, applesauce, bread and butter, coffee, iced tea and desserts. This is a major fundraiser for the Unit to continue work with their veterans projects throughout the year.
