LAUREL, Mont. — Patricia ”Pat” Steiger, 74, formerly of DePue, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008.

Born in November 1933 in Spring Valley to Adeline and Zip Bernatavich, she married Duane Steiger in 1957. He preceded her in death.

She was raised in her hometown of DePue. She left DePue to pursue a short-lived career as a governess for the Sample family of Chicago. After moving to Montana and then getting married, she and her husband had lived in eastern Montana, including Billings, Hysham, Custer and Hardin. After her husband passed away, she moved to Laurel, Mont.

Surviving are seven children, Pete (Sandi) Steiger of Laurel, Mont., Michelle (Steve) Dyckman of Hardin, Mont., Allison (Frank) Gruss of Sedro-Wooley, Wash., Daniel (Debbie) Steiger of Smithfield, Va., Annette (Gary) Hart of Laurel, Mont., and Adele Steiger of Portland, Ore.; her mother of Laurel, Mont.; one brother, Bill (Lois) Bernatavich of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a foster daughter, Lorrie.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Laurel, Mont.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, in the Smith Funeral Home, Laurel, Mont.

Memorials may be directed to the Laurel Senior Citizen Center.
