DePue man faces felony charges

DEPUE — A DePue man faces felony charges for alleged criminal sexual assault behavior.

Matthew R. Wrona, 22, of DePue, was arrested Oct. 9 by Union County Sheriff Department deputies and charged with the class X felony of  predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. The arrest was made in Anna, Il., at the private residence of a friend of Wrona’s.

The warrant was issued on Sept. 25 at the request of the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s office, following a criminal investigation by the DePue Police Department, assisted by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. The investigation originally began Sept. 5. Wrona had attempted to elude law enforcement beginning Sept. 25.

Wrona has been transported to the Bureau County Jail by the DePue Police Department for procedural processing and is being held for appearance. His bond has been set at $100,000.
