PRINCETON — Local musician and emerging artists Jared Bartman and friends will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at the Prairie Arts Center in Princeton. The concert will feature original music selections composed by Jared and other musicians.

Bartman is a junior journalism and music major at Bradley University. He began playing the piano at age 9, followed by guitar soon after.

From an early age, music composition was an interest, as well as exploring new instruments, including the mandolin and the accordion. Bartman takes music inspiration from such performers as the Beatles, John Vanderslice, Bob Dylan, Wilco, Jon Brion, Django Reinhardt and Neutral Milk Hotel. He released his first solo album, “The Kathy Clark E.P” in 2007. His second solo album, “I Refute Technology” was produced by Mark Rubel and recorded at Pogo Studio in Champaign.

Bartman opened for rock veteran John Vanderslice at the Canopy Club in Champaign and plays various venues throughout Illinois.

Admission is $7 at the door, and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Prairie Arts Center is located at 24 Park Avenue East in Princeton.
