Chili supper
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Center will host its fourth annual all-you-can-eat chili supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Bureau County Senior Center, 16 W. Marion St., Princeton. The menu will include chili with crackers and cornbread, along with drinks and homemade pie. The cost is $5. There will be a $1 charge for each additional piece of pie. Anyone willing to donate a pie should call the senior center. Donations of hamburger, tomato juice and sauce, tomatoes and crackers would also be welcomed. Community Day
PRINCETON — The Bureau County United Way will host a Community Day on Jan. 13 at Monical’s Pizza, 302 S. Main St. in Princeton. Monical’s will donate 20 percent of dining bills to the Bureau County United Way for anyone dining between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. who present a flier when ordering. Trip planned
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Citizens Association will host a trip to Bald Eagle Days at Starved Rock on Jan. 16. The cost of the trip will be $30, which will include transportation, lunch and a trolley ride. The center will take 15 passengers, so the first 15 seniors who sign up will go. Reservations must be made and paid for by Jan. 16. The bus will leave the center at 10 a.m. and will return in the afternoon. A sign-up sheet is located at the center, 16 W. Marion St. in Princeton. Reservations may also be made by calling the senior center at (815) 879-3981.
Meeting set
DEPUE — The DePue/Bureau County Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the VFW Hall in DePue. Discussions will be on upcoming projects and the election for local office in April. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
Blood drive
PRINCETON — The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will have a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the fourth floor Multi-Purpose Room at Perry Memorial Hospital. Donors who last gave blood on or before Nov. 13 are eligible. Donors must be 16 years old, in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other photo I.D. is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form. To donate, call MVRBC at (800) 747-5401, ext. 119.
Meeting set

Workshops planned
HENRY — The Marshall-Putnam Quilt Guild will hold two workshops Jan. 14 in the fellowship room of the Henry United Presbyterian Church. The morning workshop class, set for 9 a.m. to noon, will be Mexican tile placemats presented by Susan Knapp and Mary Jane Mattingly of the Quilt Branch. To register, call Louise Young at (309) 364-2240. The second workshop, community service quilts, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and will be presented by Wendy Kingen, community service chairman. All members are encouraged to attend and help cut and/or sew and visit as quilts are made to benefit local recipients. Members should bring their sewing machines and basic sewing supplies for both sessions. There will not be a business meeting this month.
Cast announced
LASALLE — The cast has been announced for “Godspell,” the musical retelling of the Gospel of Matthew by John-Michael Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz, as Stage 212 opens its 41st season.
Playing Jesus will be Tony Christopherson, joined by Tom Bailey as Judas/John. The Company will feature Adam Barr, Collin Van Buren, Phil Grant, Christin Chamberlain, Traci Cidlik, Amy Powell, Aubrey Smigel and Aimee Taylor. Among the many memorable songs featured in “Godspell” are “Day by Day,” “By My Side” and “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord.”
The production staff includes director Scot Smigel, producer Joyce Myler, assistant director Michael Dhesse, co-producer Chris Jauch, choreographer Jessi Spears, music director Brandon Czubachowski and costumer Pam Grivetti.
“Godspell” will be presented Jan. 30-Feb. 1 and Feb. 6-8 at Stage 212, 700 First St., LaSalle. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available to the general public for $16 apiece beginning Jan. 12. Box office hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets may be reserved over the phone. For information, call (815) 224-3025.
Pancake breakfast
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Lions Club, 308 Howard St. in LaMoille. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, ham, eggs, toast, orange juice, milk and coffee. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6-10.
