Business After Hours

PRINCETON — Central Bank of Princeton, 317 S. Main St., will host Thursday’s Business After Hours event, which will begin at 5 p.m.

Veterans workshop

PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will conduct its veterans workshop Wednesday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. All members are encouraged to attend the workshop to help fill treat sacks for the veterans in the local “health care” centers the Unit serves. Freshman dinner

MANLIUS — Bureau Valley High School’s annual Freshman Food Court will be Friday in conjunction with the Morrison/Bureau Valley boys’ basketball game. Serving will be from 4:30 p.m. through half-time of the second game. Tickets will be available at the door. Proceeds from the event will go toward the costs incurred when the Class of 2012 sponsors its junior prom.

Hiking event

SHEFFIELD — Friends of the Canal will hold its monthly “Hike the Canal” outing on Sunday. This month’s hike will be from Lock 17 to Lock 21. Participants will meet at Lock 21, the lift bridge, at 1:30 p.m., where they will be shuttled to Lock 17 to begin the hike. This portion of the “Hike the Hennepin” is 3.2 miles in length and it has been named the “Kingfisher”. For more information, contact Ed Herrmann at (815) 664-2403 or Pat Stier at (815) 454-2502.

Fish fry

MANLIUS — A fish fry and co-ed stag will be from 5 p.m. to midnight Jan. 24 at the Manlius Sportsman’s Club.

Birthday party

TAMPICO — The Ronald Reagan Birthplace and Tampico Area Historical Society will sponsor the annual birthday party in honor of President Ronald Reagan’s birth between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 6. Tours will be conducted during the day and refreshments, including birthday cake, will be served at the Historical Museum on Main Street. Lincoln program

PRINCETON — Bureau County Genealogical Society member Esther Tracy will present the program for the group’s Jan. 22 meeting. The topic will be “The Lineage of Abraham Lincoln, Fact and Controversy.” The program will explore both the ascending and descending lines of the 16th president and will be given in recognition of the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth which is being commemorated this year. The program will also feature interesting anecdotes of the most immediate Lincoln family members. The public is invited to attend. The meeting is at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Society’s library, 629 S. Main St. in Princeton. For more information, call (815) 879-3133.
