Special event — BUREAU — Leepertown School will host a special event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 2 at the school. Ancilla Parducci, youth development educator for the Quad Cities Extension Center, will present a program to help participants answer the following questions: “What do we do when our 8-year-old knows more than we do about cyberspace?” “What is My Space?” “How do we set the rules when we don’t even understand the risks?” Space is limited to 20 computer work stations. Additional seats without computers will also be available. To reserve a spot, call (815) 659-3191.
Donkey basketball — OHIO — The Ohio High School Class of 2009 will sponsor a donkey basketball game at 7 p.m. March 28 in the school gym. Tickets are $6 in advance and are available at the high school and other locations. Tickets will also be available at the door for $8. The Class of 2009 will also host a spaghetti dinner prior to the game. Dinners are $6 for adults, $4 for children.
Meeting set — PRINCETON — The Bureau County Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon April 16 at the Princeton Public Library, 698 E. Peru St. in Princeton. A program on Staph Infections [MRSA] will be presented by a representative of the Perry Memorial Hospital staff. Lunch is optional. Lunch reservations may be made by calling Elaine Bolatto at (815) 879-2041. For the April meeting, please call before April 9. The cost of the lunch is $10. You may attend the meetings without purchasing lunch. Spouses are welcome.
Breakfast planned
TISKILWA — The Tiskilwa Community Church will host a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 9:30 a.m. March 28 at the church. Tickets are $4.50 for adults, $3 for ages 12 and under. The public is invited to attend.
Fundraiser set — PRINCETON — The Princeton Theatre Group will host a sneak peak at the renovation project going on in The Grace Performing Arts Center which houses one of the Festival 56 theatre venues from 7 to 10 p.m. on May 1. This sneak peak event is a fundraiser to benefit Festival 56 which is Illinois’ largest summer theatre festival including free performances of Shakespeare in the Park. The Grace Performing Arts Center is at 316 S. Main St. in Princeton. Tickets are $35 per person and include hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a drink coupon. There will also be a cash bar. Used book sale — PRINCETON — Friends of the Princeton Library will hold its annual used book sale April 16-19 at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. A “Preview Night” for the sale will be from 7 to 9 p.m. April 16. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 17, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 18 and noon to 4 p.m. April 19. Admission is $5 on Thursday evening only with “Friends” members free.
Book club meeting — SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday to discuss Jodi Picoult’s book titled “My Sister’s Keeper”. To sign up, call Tami Pettis at (815) 454-2628 or Sharon Palumbo at (815) 454-4027. Refreshments will be available.
Meeting set — KEWANEE — The Henry County Genealogical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the community room of the Kewanee Public Library. The program will be a genealogy workshop. Bonnie Wiley, registrar of the Geneseo Chapter DAR, and Betty Sullivan, registrar of the Kewanee Chapter DAR, will discuss lineage societies and some of the requirements for joining. Everyone is invited to attend, from those just starting to research their family history, to those who have done years of research.
Blood drive — SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley will host a Red Cross bloodmobile from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the first floor Presentation Room.
