Stephen Sullivan
PRINCETON — Stephen William Sullivan, 53, quietly drew his last breath on Saturday, March 21, 2009, in Princeton while attended by his family. Steve was a deeply loved friend, brother, uncle, son, nephew and cousin.
Steve was born on Aug. 3, 1955, in Springfield and is survived by his mother, Eleanora Young; three sisters, Debbie Sullivan, Amy Wolf and Donna Sullivan-Hancock; and two brothers, Shawn and Jason Sullivan. His father, David S. Sullivan, a longtime Princeton resident and late Commissioner of Bureau County Highways, precedes him in death.
Steve grew up in Dixon and graduated from Dixon High School in 1973. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a B.S.E. in Civil Engineering and a M.B.A. in Business Administration. Steve worked as a civil engineer, surveyor and construction project manager for several years. His more recent interests included raising livestock and gentleman farming at his farm “Hog Heaven.”
Steve was an avid music lover and played several instruments in addition to singing and song writing. Steve loved to golf, and his keen interest in fishing led him to the ingenious and humorous customization of his fishing boat and travel trailer.
A family fishing tournament will be held in Steve’s memory at Kentucky Lake in September; and a celebration of Steve’s life will be arranged at a later date.
The Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton assisted with local arrangements.
