ROCK FALLS — The Rockets tallied all of their three runs in the fourth inning to break open a scoreless contest and take a 3-0 lead, and held on to win 3-2 over the visiting Tigers.

Princeton fought back with a pair of runs in the fifth, but that was all the offense they could muster as Rock Falls held on to the win.

“It was just one bad inning,” PHS coach John Cruz said. “We only had three hits and they only had four the whole game.”

Princeton starting pitcher Brik Wedekind picked up the loss for the Tigers, giving up three runs over four innings of work. Wedekind allowed only four hits, and fanned five Rocket batters.

BV 14, Rockridge 4: With their home field too sloppy after the wintry weekend weather, the Storm took to the road, traveling to Taylor Ridge Wednesday afternoon. The Bureau Valley bats were in full swing as the Storm put up three runs in both the first and second innings to take a 6-0 early advantage over the host Rockets.

Bureau Valley kept slugging away, tallying another four runs in the top half of the fourth, to take a 10-0 lead.
Rockridge answered with a run in the bottom half of the fourth to get on the board, but Bureau Valley lashed out with another four runs in the fifth.

The Rockets added three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the game was called due to the 10-run rule, as the Storm triumphed 14-4.

Storm starter Peter Elliott picked up the win, going five innings and giving up four runs, only one of them earned. Elliott amassed seven strikeouts and gave up nine hits and one walk in the contest.
