Christian comedians to perform at benefit

PERU — Professional Christian comedians Mike McClain and Dennis Tooley will be the headliners at a pediatric comedy benefit hosted and sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Peru at 7 p.m. April 25.

The comedic musings of Jeff Arthurs of LaSalle will provide the opening act of the night of comedy at the church, which is located at 1431 Fourth Street.

Proceeds from the event will be used to acquire entertainment activity carts for pediatric patients at Illinois Valley Community Hospital.

There is no charge to attend the comedians’ performances. A freewill offering will be taken at the door.

A resident of Macomb, Mich., McClain has performed across the United States, including a comedy show for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Tooley, who was raised in a minster’s home, says his comedy program “helps people see what a great sense of humor God has and wants us to have, as well.”
