EUREKA — Andrew Taylor, a 2006 graduate of Hall High School, was recognized as a Durward V. Sandifer Fellow during an honors ceremony at Eureka College in April. This fellowship is awarded to students who have completed their first four semesters at Eureka College with a minimum 3.5 grade point average, a proven track record in community service and demonstrated leadership on Eureka’s campus. In conjunction with this fellowship, Taylor will be doing an internship with the Peoria Planning and Growth Management Department this summer.

Taylor was also awarded the Gary Gammon award, given in memory of Dr. Gary E. Gammon, former dean of the college and associate professor of political science. Taylor, a junior majoring in political science and history, exemplifies the dedication of Dean Gammon through campus and community service while maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Taylor also was inducted into the college’s chapter of Pi Gamma Mu international honor society in social science for juniors and seniors who are in the top 35 percent of their class and have an average of B or better in at least 20 semester hours of social science classes, including economics, history, political science, sociology, anthropology, geography, criminal justice, social work or international relations. He is the son of James and Billie Jean Taylor and the grandson of Elizabeth Lust, all of Spring Valley.
