Grand jury returns 11 indictments
PRINCETON — The Bureau County grand jury heard 11 cases when it convened on May 11 at the Bureau County Courthouse in Princeton.
The cases are as follows:
• Lauren M. Ferrari, 23, of Princeton was indicted for the Class 4 felony of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, heroin. She is accused of possessing not more than 15 grams of heroin on April 7. Ferrari is free from custody after posting 10 percent of a $20,000 bond. Deputy Chad Winner with the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department testified before the grand jury.
• Charles E. Rowe, 42, of Princeton was indicted for the Class 3 felony of insurance fraud. He is accused of obtaining property of Pekin Insurance by deception on Oct. 9, 2008, by making a false claim. He is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bond. Investigator Barry Portman with the Princeton Police Department testified before the grand jury.
• Stacey M. Albrecht, 26, of Princeton was indicted for the Class 4 felony of computer fraud. She is accused of accessing a computer of a Princeton woman and obtaining $950 in U.S. currency by deception. She is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $7,500 bond. Investigator Barry Portman testified before the grand jury.,
• Gregory M. Hall, 30, of Princeton was indicted for the Class 4 felony of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, heroin. He is a accused of possessing two grams of heroin on April 16. A TRI-DENT task force officer testified before the grand jury. Hall is in custody with bond set at $40,000.
• Brett M. Sandberg, 30, of Princeton was indicted for the Class 3 felony of unlawful use of a credit card. He is accused of using another person’s credit card at a Princeton business on April 19. He is in custody with bond set at $50,000. Investigator Barry Portman with the Princeton Police Department testified before the grand jury.
• Samuel R. Anderson, 34, of Walnut was indicted for the Class 3 felony of unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis. He is accused of possessing with the intent to deliver less than 500 grams of cannabis on March 13. He is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond. A TRI-DENT task force officer testified before the grand jury.
• Audrey A. Sampson, 21, of McNabb was indicted for the Class 3 felony of forgery. She is accused of forging a check of a DePue man on April 18. She is in custody with bond set at $20,000. Lt. Doug Narczewski with the Spring Valley Police Department testified before the grand jury.
• Kathy L. Schmidt, 50, of Mendota was indicted for the Class 3 felony of identity theft and the Class 4 felony offense of identity theft. She is accused of using and possessing the identification of another person to obtain a credit card. She is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $7,000 bond. Walnut Police Chief Tom Ptasnik testified before the grand jury.
• There were three suppressed cases.
The indictments on Rowe, Hall, Anderson, Schmidt and one suppressed case were returned before Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei. The indictments on Ferrari, Albrecht, Sandberg, Sampson and two suppressed cases were returned before Associate Judge C.J. Hollerich.
