Memorial Day services

The following Memorial Day services were submitted to the BCR:

BUDA — The Buda American Legion Post 261 will conduct its traditional Memorial Day services at 10 a.m. May 25 at the Hopeland Cemetery, west of Buda by Mautino State Park. In case of rain, the service will be in the main gym at the Bureau Valley South Elementary and Junior High School.
Guest speakers for the service will be Bill Hebel of Kewanee and Gaile Arnold of Buda. Hebel is a former member of the honor guard team who guard the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
The American Legion Post and Auxiliary will conduct traditional military services followed by the 21-gun salute, and taps by Joan Maas of Sheffield.

DEPUE — St. Mary’s Cemetery Memorial Day Mass will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. Bring lawn chairs and park cars facing north. Coffee and rolls will be served after Mass in the church hall. In case of rain, the service will be held in St. Mary’s Church. All are welcome.

LADD — The Ladd American Legion Post 938 will conduct Memorial Day services at Ray Barto Memorial Park in Seatonville at 8:15 a.m.; at the Berean Cemetery at 8:50 a.m.; at the Cherry Miner’s Cemetery at 9:15 a.m.; at Dalzell Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m.; at the Ladd Cemetery at 11 a.m.; at War Memorial Park in Ladd, with Lt. Adam Wilson speaking, at 11:30 a.m. and at Greenfield Cemetery  in LaMoille, with guest speaker Brian Lampe, at 12:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. In case of inclement weather, some services may be canceled, but the 11:30 a.m. service would be held in St. Benedict’s social hall in Ladd and the 12:30 p.m. service would be held at the Allen Grade school gym in LaMoille.

LAMOILLE — Memorial Day services will be held at 12:30 p.m. May 25 at Greenfield Cemetery. Brian Lampe of American Legion Post 938 will be the speaker. Kevin Weeks of Zion Evangelical Church will bring the invocation and benediction. Donald Simpson of American Legion Post 1043 will preside over decoration of graves.
