Lunch in the Park
PRINCETON — Lunch in the Park will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. Shine Ministries will serve the meat and United Methodist Women will have the bake sale.
Donations being accepted
PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton continues to accept donations for its Poppy Fund and also for the veteran programs to support the monthly veterans workshops, Christmas Boxes Overseas as well as other programs the Unit supports. Conklin’s theater trip
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Center will host a trip to see the musical “Forever Plaid” at Conklin’s Barn Dinner Theater in Goodfield on June 21. The cost of the trip is $43 and includes transportation and Sunday brunch. Transportation will leave the center at 10:30 a.m. Participants must reserve a space and pay for the trip by June 21.
Reading program
OHIO — The Ohio Public Library invites children and youth to “Read on the Wild Side” this summer. The library’s summer reading program kicks off June 10 and runs through July 15. The program is divided into three age levels: Read to Me – birth to 5 years (children entering kindergarten); On My Own – ages 6-12 (entering grades 1-6); and Teen Read – ages 13-18 (entering grades 7-12). Summer movie program
OHIO — The Ohio Public Library invites the public to a summer movie festival each Tuesday at 1 p.m. beginning on June 9. The festival is themed “From Print to the Big Screen” and will feature movie adaptations of beloved books. The feature film for June 9 is “Nancy Drew.” The film is rated PG. Peer support
LASALLE — The Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living’s peer support group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the IVCIL office, 18 Gunia Drive in LaSalle. Consumers of IVCIL, their family and friends are welcome to attend and discuss issues that affect you positively or negatively with your family, friends and/or community. Concerts announced
PRINCETON — The Princeton Community Band will present the first concert of the season at 6 p.m. Sunday in Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. Special guest Frank Payton will conduct Eric Coates’ “Dam Busters March.” Payton recently retired from the Normal Community Schools as director of bands and was the department chair at Parkside Junior High School. He currently supervises student teachers at Illinois State University and performs with the Prairie Wind Ensemble.
Red Hats meeting
PRINCETON — The Red Hats will meet at 11 a.m. June 20 at the Elks Lodge. A Red Hats member will become royalty. Members are asked to wear the colors and lots of jewelry.
Green Fete Festival
OGLESBY — The LaSalle County Green Fete Festival will be Sunday at LeHigh Park in Oglesby. The festival is a first of its kind gathering of art, dance, music, healing arts, green living, food and more. The festival will include workshops of various arts including Yoga, Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, NIA, meditation, organic food, bee keeping, solar power, glass blowing, Native American culture, organic growing, natural medicine, renewable energy, photography and others.
Bake sale
PRINCETON — The First United Methodist Church will have a bake sale at 10 a.m. Friday at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton.
Benefit
PRINCETON — The Relay for Life team from the First Congregational Church of Bureau will hold a yard sale and bake sale from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 7 a.m. to ? Friday at 14057 Illinois Highway 26 South to raise money for Bureau County Relay for Life. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
