Summer flute retreat
OGLESBY — Illinois Valley Community College will host the 11th annual Summer Flute Retreat June 21-27.
The seminar is open to flutists of all ages and ability levels. Students will have the opportunity to work on performing in small chamber groups, as well as tone, rhythm and balance.
Retreat faculty are Gerald Carey, flute professor emeritus, Western Illinois University; Sue Gillio, principal flute, Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra; Kim Sopata, freelance flutist; Ellen Huntington, Quad City Symphony; and Anne Badger, accompanist.

The application deadline is May 31. A $50 deposit is required and the cost is $275. Tuition includes all concerts, catered lunches and housing for out of area participants. After June 1, the retreat cost increases to $295.
