Lunch in the Park
PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital Relay For Life Team will sponsor Lunch in the Park from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Soldiers and Sailors Park. The money raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society for the Relay For Life event which will be held in August at Hall High School. The menu will be butterfly pork chop sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, soda and water. Businesses may call in their order to (815) 876-4454 by June 18 with a specific pick up time.
Blood drive
LADD — An American Red Cross community blood drive, sponsored by Ladd Family Chiropractic, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. June 23 in the Ladd Grade School cafeteria, 232 E. Cleveland St. Donors are eligible if they haven’t donated since April 29. Bring a Red Cross donor card of photo I.D. To schedule an appointment, call (815) 894-9400. Walk-ins are also accepted.
Genealogy meeting
LASALLE — The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. June 20 at the Guild library, 115 W. Glover St., Ottawa. Retired school teacher and Web site designer Jim Keating will present scanning projects for genealogy and how to create a personal genealogical calendar.
Jaycees will meet
PRINCETON — The Princeton Jaycees will hold its monthly general membership meeting on Thursday. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Jaycees will meet at the Bureau County Fairgrounds horseshoe pitching area (corner of Crown and Boyd Avenue) for a lesson in horseshoe pitching. At 7:15 p.m. the Jaycees will move to the Prouty Building in Princeton for their regular meeting. Individuals interested in learning about the Princeton Jaycees and the events coming up are encouraged and invited to attend.

PRINCETON — The annual “More on 34” two-day garage sale will be at the Bureau County Fairgrounds on June 20 and 21. Doors will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with free admission both days. The sale will run through mid afternoon both days. The More on 34 sale begins on Friday with a route that takes shoppers from Galesburg to Sandwich all along Route 34. Gala planned
PRINCETON — Festival 56 will host a benefit Gala from 8 to 11 p.m. June 26 at Shoemake Hall at the Bureau County Metro Center coinciding with the opening of its 2009 season. The theme of this year’s Gala is Wizards and Witches as a nod to the colorful, magical characters of Oz. Participants may dress, if they wish, as their favorite wizard or witch and enjoy an evening of nonstop mischief, cabaret entertainment and auction activity. Tickets are $35 per person and include hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a drink coupon. There will also be a cash bar. Reservations are required and can be made by stopping by or calling the box office at (815) 879-5656.
