James Struthers

PRINCETON — James Aaron Struthers, 37, of Princeton passed away from complication due to pneumonia on Monday, June 8, 2009, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

James was born on June 6, 1972, the son of Jack and Judith (Ruch) Struthers of Princeton.

He is survived by his mother, Judith (Ruch) Nelson, and his stepfather, William (Bill) E. Nelson of Princeton, as well as a brother, Jason Struthers, a sister-in-law, Amie (White) Struthers, two nieces, Abigail and Hailey Struthers, and one nephew, Jack Struthers, all of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

James graduated Princeton High School in 1990. He then attended Northern Illinois University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Bachelor of Art in political science in 1994. He was a few credit hours from his master’s of accounting degree at Illinois State University and likewise had several hours toward a law degree at ITT Kent in Chicago. He also had just one more section of the CPA exam to pass as well.
James was happiest when with family and friends, and enjoyed reading, music, trivia and cartography. In school he was active in various clubs and sports, but most enjoyed his association with soccer, tennis, Scholastic Bowl and Boy Scouts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Struthers, in 1984.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Proctor Hospital in Peoria for the extraordinary care and compassion they showed James and his family during a very difficult time.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Condolences may be left at www.norbergfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the James Struthers Memorial Fund at Citizens First National Bank, 606 S. Main St., Princeton, IL 61356. Donations will be used to support Princeton High School activities and scholarship to be determined.
