GENESEO — Cleta Ferne Stutzman, 95, of Geneseo, formerly of Buda, died at 3:24 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Good Samaritan Society of Geneseo.
Born April 5, 1914, in LaCygne, Kan., to Ralph and Ethel (Sage) Marquis, she married Marshall Stutzman Jan. 12, 1938, in Buda. He survives.
She came to Illinois via train when she was 3 years old. She attended Tiskilwa and Buda schools, graduating in 1932.
She was a housewife. She was a volunteer as a "grey lady" at the Dixon Mental Institute and was a member of the Bunker Hill Church of God, Buda.
Also surviving are two daughters, Connie (William) Daughtery of Geneseo, and Judith (Gary) Clark of Hudson; one son, Don Stutzman of Geneseo; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parent, two brothers, Richard and Milo Marquis; one daughter, Dolores Barnett and one great-granddaughter, Jordan Barnett.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bunker Hill Church of God, Buda, the Rev. Fred Criminger officiating. Burial will be in the Bunker Hill Cemetery in rural Buda.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Bunker Hill Church of God, Buda.
Memorials may be made to the Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda or Good Samaritan Society of Geneseo.
