WALNUT — Walnut’s Hometown Celebration will be July 2-5. This year's events include:
Thursday, July 2
3-5 p.m. — Bingo with the senior citizens at Heaton Shelter
4:30 p.m. — Sign-up for bean bag tournament, Heaton Shelter
5 p.m.-12:30 a.m. — Vendors and beer garden opens
5-9 p.m. — Chamber of Commerce chicken strips & fish fry, Heaton Shelter.
5 p.m. — Bean bag tournament begins, by Heaton Shelter
5-9 p.m. — Fun Ones Rock Climbing Wall, school grounds.
5-10 p.m. — J & M Amusements (games and rides) south of Walnut Creek.
6 p.m. — Jeff Payne Memorial Softball Tournament
8 p.m.-midnight — "DJ Paul” at Heaton Shelter,
Friday, July 3
Hawaiian Shirt Night
8 a.m. — Food vendors open
9 a.m.-12:30 a.m. — Beer garden, Heaton Shelter
9 a.m. — 10th annual Tractor and Farm Machinery Show, south of Walnut Creek
9 a.m. — 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, BVN School playground (south side)
10 a.m.-10 p.m. — J & M Amusements (games and rides) south of Walnut Creek
10 a.m.-9 p.m. — Fun Ones Rock Climbing Wall, school grounds.
Noon-9 p.m. — Chamber of Commerce Chicken Strips & Fish Fry. Heaton Shelter.

8 a.m. — 5K Run with Walnut Fire and Rescue
8 a.m. — Barker chainsaw carving begins
9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. — Car show, BVN school property, 3D Sound/Dave Palmer
9 a.m. — 10th annual Antique Tractor and Farm Machinery Show, south of Walnut Creek
10 a.m.-9 p.m. — Fun Ones Rock Climbing Wall, school grounds
10 a.m.-10 p.m. — J & M Amusements (games and rides) south of Walnut Creek
10 a.m. — Jeff Payne Memorial Softball Tournament
10 a.m. — Cub Scouts Soap Box Derby registration
10 a.m.-dusk — Helicopter rides, BVN school track
11 a.m. — Vendors open
11 a.m.-9 p.m. — The Green River Riders will be serving sandwiches and dinner

1:30 p.m. — Kiddie parade, Heaton to Jackson

4:30 p.m. — Greased pig chase. Pen on the east end of playground

1 p.m. — Adult tug-of-War
1 p.m. — Pedal power pull, BVN school playground area (south side)
2 p.m. — Community Club Duck Race, Walnut Creek
2 p.m. — Walnut Fire Department water gights, BVN School parking lot (south side)
3 p.m. — Coin scramble on school playground
3 p.m. — Pie baking contest and auction, tent beside Heaton Shelter
4-9 p.m. — D.J. Paul, beer garden at Heaton Shelter
7:30 p.m. — Auction of the wood carvings
8 p.m. — Announcements
After dark — Huge fireworks display. Rain date is Monday, July 6, at dusk.
