Lowers notches Post 31 win
Sam Lowers picked up the 10-9 decision in Henry County Junior Legion’s victory over Limestone.
The Bureau Valley pitcher tossed one shutout inning in relief, striking out one and surrendering one hit.
Justin Freddy had two hits and drove in four runs, including a walk-off hit over the left fielder’s head to score Mineral’s Dillon Foes with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Foes had two hits for the 6-3 Post 31 Juniors.
• Church League update: Mother Nature had other ideas for Tuesday’s make-up games at Westside Park. The week’s schedule now has Bureau Township facing Methodist at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the regularly scheduled games Friday between First Baptist vs. Bureau Township at 6 p.m., Comeback Kids vs. Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday’s make-up game between St. Louis and First Baptist at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, St. Louis/Covenant takes on Methodist at 6 p.m. followed by Princeton Bible vs. St. Matthew’s at 7:30 p.m.
Another make-up date on Tuesday, July 14 pits St. Matthew’s vs. Bureau Township at 6 p.m. and First Baptist/Presbyterian vs. Comeback Kids at 7:30 p.m.
Methodist leads the league at 4-1, followed by St. Louis/Covenant (3-2), Bunker Hill (3-3), Bureau Township (2-2), First Baptist (2-2), St. Matthew’s (2-3), Comeback Kids (2-3) and Princeton Bible (2-4).
