March of Dimes benefit

OGLESBY — Illinois Valley Community College graphic design program coordinator Francie Skoflanc will be one of the artists presenting painted martini glasses for the fourth annual March of Dimes Artini Fest and All That Jazz, Aug. 14 at Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Club. The event will feature a cocktail reception, creative works of local artists, a silent auction and a live jazz concert. Cookout

PRINCETON — A cookout to benefit Bureau County United Way will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Saturday, in Sullivan’s Foods parking lot.

Tournament

PRINCETON — A bean bag tournament hosted by the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce will be held Aug. 8 during the Backyard Bash at Alexander Park. Entry fee is $10 per person. For more information, contact PACC at (815) 875-2616.

Nut and candy sale

SPRING VALLEY — A nut and candy sale, sponsored by St. Margaret’s Auxiliary, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 in the lower lobby of St. Margaret’s Hospital. More than 60 varieties of nuts, chocolates, dried fruits and candies will be available for reasonable prices. Bloodmobile

PRINCETON — The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will have a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in the fourth-floor Multi-Purpose Room at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. Donors who last gave blood on or before June 17 are eligible. A blood donor card or other photo I.D. is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form. Bible school

MALDEN — The Malden First United Methodist Church invites all children to this summer’s Vacation Bible School, “Son Rock Kids Camp — Where Kids Build Their Life on the Rock: Jesus!”

The school, for ages 3 through fifth grade, will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each night starting Monday and continuing through Friday. Family members are invited to participate each evening at 7:30 p.m.
