OHIO, Ill — Marlene G. Sisler, 75, of 27457 2300 East St., Ohio, Ill., died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Marlene was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Chana, Ill., to Hiram and Frances (Cox) Geiken. She was united in marriage July 9, 1960, to William M. Sisler at Paynes Point Lutheran Church in Chana.

Marlene received a degree in education at Northern Illinois University. She started her teaching career in 1957 in West Chicago, went on to teach at Rockford East, Kasbeer Grade School and Ohio High School as a business teacher. Marlene was a bookkeeper for Ohio and Walnut schools and Sisler’s Dairy Products, and also served as treasurer for the Ohio Public Library Board. She was a member of Ohio United Methodist Church, UMW, MORROW, Green River Country Club and DMC Bridge Club. Marlene enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, researching genealogy, golfing and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Bill; two daughters, Kathy (Mike) McGinley of Streamwood, Ill., and Karen (Jim) Anderson of Ohio, Ill.; one son, Billy Sisler of Princeton, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Carmen (Bob) Sissel of Princeton, Ill.; four grandchildren, Vanessa Sissel, Tieg and Lucas Sisler, and Annette McGinley; one brother, Richard (Marilyn) Geiken of Oregon, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Ohio United Methodist Church in Ohio with Justin Mapes officiating. Burial will be Union Cemetery in Ohio.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.

A memorial has been established in her memory to the Ohio United Methodist Church, Ohio Public Library and Union Cemetery.
