PRINCETON — Gerald “Jerry” Ernat, 62, of rural Princeton died at 8:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Born Feb. 17, 1947, in Spring Valley to Thomas and Julia (Ternetti) Ernat, he married Elaine Prostko April 16, 1966, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. She survives.

He was a farmer in the rural Princeton area.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Spring Valley, Spring Valley Walleye Club, U.S. Fishing Association and Master Walleye Circuit.

Also surviving are one son, Brian (Luann) Ernat of Seatonville; one daughter, Pam (Doug) Veronda of Granville; his mother of Princeton; two sisters, Sue (Paul) Read of Putnam and Ramona (Dave) Kerlin of Wyanet; one brother, Danny Ernat of Putnam; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, and at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Spilman and Deacon John Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
