Golf scramble

PRINCETON — The sixth annual Bureau County United Way Golf Scramble will be Sept. 19 at Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course in Princeton. It will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost per golfer is $60 and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, dinner and door prizes. Individual golfers or foursomes are welcome. To register, contact the Bureau County United Way office at (815) 872-0821.

Cookout today

PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans Group will hold a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Saturday, at Sullivan’s in Princeton. They will serve butterfly pork chops, brats and hot dogs, plus chips and sodas. This is a fundraiser for the group, which is made up of members from American Legion Post 125, VFW Post 4323 and AMVETS Post 180.

Genealogy meeting

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at 629 S. Main Street in Princeton. Jane Jones will do a presentation on the RootsMagic genealogy program. RootsMagic is one of the more popular programs used by genealogists to record their data and is arguably the most user-friendly. This will be a live demonstration. All meetings are open to the public.

Annual picnic

HENNEPIN — The Woodcrafters Unlimited Association will hold its annual picnic Thursday at Ray’s Place in Hennepin. All members, spouses, friends and other interested guest are invited to attend. A cocktail hour will start at 6 p.m. and participants will have the option to order off the menu or have the buffet. Alumni breakfast

PRINCETON — The Princeton High School Homestead alumni breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at Pilot Truck Stop restaurant. All PHS alumni are invited to attend.
