Meet the Storm
MANLIUS — Bureau Valley High School will host its Meet the Storm Night Friday to kick off the 2009 fall sports season. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend a 6 p.m. meeting to discuss rules and procedures. The football team will meet at the west end of the football bleachers and the cheerleaders at the east end; cross country will meet in the auditorium; volleyball will meet in the gym; golf will meet in the media center; and the drill team in the driver’s ed room, 444. Following the meetings, all fall participants will be introduced on the football field. The football and volleyball teams will cap the night with short practice/scrimmages.
Meet the Tigers
PRINCETON — The 2009 edition of the Princeton Tiger teams will be on public display for the first time during Friday’s Meet the Tigers Night. The Star Spangled Singers will get the evening started at 5:30 p.m. with the National Anthem. Introduction of pom pons, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ golf, boys’ and girls’ cross country, girls’ tennis, boys’ soccer and football players will follow. The freshmen/sophomore football scrimmage will kick off at 6 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 6:30 p.m. The Meet the Tigresses Night for volleyball will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Prouty Gym. Season tickets for football and volleyball will be available at Blue-White Night. Senior passes (65 and older) will be accepted again this year at all regular admission events. Senior citizens within the PHS District may obtain a pass by calling the office at (815) 875-3308. Previously issued senior passes are still valid.
Junior Bowlers cookout
PRINCETON — The Princeton Junior Bowlers will hold a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at TSC. All proceeds will help send the junior bowlers to the state bowling tournament, for trophies and their end-of-year banquet.
PYBSL cookout
PRINCETON — The Princeton Youth Baseball and Softball League will hold a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Beck’s North.
Hall tickets
SPRING VALLEY — Hall High School will be selling season tickets at Friday’s Red-White Scrimmage, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in front of the football stadium. In the event of rain, they will be sold in the gym lobby. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students/senior citizens. The first home game is Sept. 11 against Quincy Notre Dame.
Blaze tryouts
WYANET — Tryouts for the 2010 season of the Bureau County Blaze softball teams will be held in Wyanet on Sept. 5-6, and possibly the next weekend as well. Red Devil Classic
SPRING VALLEY — The Red Devil Classic golf tournament, a four-person, best-ball scramble, will be held Saturday at Spring Creek.
