Lunch in the Park
PRINCETON — Lunch in the Park will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. Orchard View will serve the meat and have the bake sale.
Book club meeting
PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 in the community meeting room at the library. The group will discuss “The Blood of Flowers” by Anita Amirrezvani. The staff at the library will be glad to assist anyone in borrowing this book. Anyone is invited to join the group, sponsored by Friends of Princeton Public Library, in discussing this book.
Fundraising party
HENRY — A fundraising party for cancer survivor Troy Bennett of Henry will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 12 at the American Legion in Henry. The event will include food, music, games, drawings and a silent auction. This is a family affair event. The meat and drinks will be provided; bring a dish to pass. There is a $3 donation for all-you-can-eat. All proceeds will to toward his medical expenses. This day is also Troy’s 51st birthday.

PRINCETON — Princeton American Legion Post 125 has one and two Blue Star banners on hand for anyone wishing to purchase one to honor loved ones serving with the military. For more information, call the post home during the morning at (815) 872-1171.
Flag disposal
PRINCETON — American Legion Post 125 in Princeton will properly dispose of tattered, worn and faded American flags. Flags may be left in the vestibule at the post home, 1549 W. Peru St.
Fundraiser set
SPRING VALLEY — The St. Margaret’s Hospital Foundation will present “Those Were the Days,” a rock and roll dance starring Phil Dirt & the Dozers on Oct. 31 at Celebrations 150 in Utica. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 with reserved seating. Tickets are available at St. Margaret’s gift shop of by calling St. Margaret’s Hospital at (815) 664-7260.
PMH retirees breakfast
PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital retirees and former employees will hold a breakfast at 9 a.m. Sept. 3 at the Princeton Plaza Restaurant.
Foster parents group
PRINCETON — Two area foster parents are working to bring together other interested foster parents to form a group to earn training hours or just get out of the house for a couple of hours a month. A group that understands the struggles in fostering. Any foster parent is invited, regardless of the agency they are licensed through. Childcare will be available on site during the meetings. The first meeting will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 in Princeton. In the first meeting, the discussion will center on what is wanted from the group meetings. Pancake breakfast
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the LaMoille Lions Club, 308 Howard St. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, ham, eggs, toast, orange juice, milk and coffee. Tickets are $5 for adults and $ 3 for children 6 to 10.
Movie in the park
SHEFFIELD — A movie in the park, “Fish of a Tale: Finding Nemo,” sponsored by Sheffield United Methodist Church, will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday in Veterans School Park. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Free refreshments will be offered. In case of rain the movie will be in the church basement. The movie will be Saturday instead of Sunday due to the start of school.
Sandwich fair
SANDWICH — The Sandwich fair will be held Sept. 9-13 at the Sandwich fairgrounds.
Classic car cruise
HENRY — The Cruise-In in Central Park will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 with over 80 cars parked around the perimeter of the park. Music furnished by the Generics. The event is free.
Auditions
HENRY — River Valley Players are auditioning for “The Taffetas,” a fun-loving musical with four-part harmony singing gals. A tribute to the girl groups of the 1950s, “The Taffetas” pay tribute to the sounds of The McGuire Sisters, The Fontane Sisters and The Chordettes. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, and at 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at St. Mary’s Center in Henry. Women auditioning will need to sing a prepared song and bring piano accompaniment for that song.
