Petefish to celebrate 90th birthday

Rebecca Petefish of Decorah, Iowa, formerly of Buda, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Sept. 7.

Rebecca was born in Buda in 1919 and in 1920 she was voted the healthiest baby at the Bureau County Fair. She married George Petefish June 7, 1942. He owned the Buda Welding Shop.

Rebecca is a 59-year member of the Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star and was active in the fireworks displays they made for the Buda Fourth of July. She was a teacher in Mineral, Annawan and Hooppole, and now lives near her daughter, Lynne (Greg) McCabe of Cresco, Iowa. She has two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rebecca remains active, painting a couple of pictures a month, reading several books a week and participating in the activities at the nursing home.
