Logan open house
PRINCETON — Logan Junior High School will hold an open house from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 10. Staff introductions will begin at 7 p.m. in Pannebaker Gym. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents.
La Leche meeting
SPRING VALLEY — La Leche League of the Illinois Valley, a breastfeeding support group, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Peru and at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 17 in Webster Park, Spring Valley. This monthly group is designed to help mothers gain knowledge and support from other breastfeeding moms. September’s discussion will revolve around, but is not limited to, “The Advantages of Breastfeeding”. Expecting mothers are also encouraged to attend. Donations wanted
PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton is seeking donations of items for mailing to overseas troops at Christmas time. Some of the needed/wanted items are as follows: travel size deodorant, shampoo, shower gels, lip balms, disposable cameras, hard candies, microwave popcorn, pre-sweetened Kool Aid, dehydrated soups, beef jerky, nuts, snack crackers and wet wipes. Items not accepte are pork, chocolate and aerosols. A complete list of items is posted in the vestibule of the Legion Post home at 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton. Hayrack ride
PERU — The St. Bede Bedan Club will have its annual hayrack ride at 7 p.m. Saturday. Music will be provided by “Wake the Sheep,” starring Steve Sharp and Dick Verucchi. The cost is $15 per person and includes food, fun, games and rides.
Cookout
WYANET — There will be a cookout at Wyanet Locker from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The menu will be rib eyes, butterflys, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips and pop.
