Orpha Piccatto
SPRING VALLEY — Orpha Piccatto, 89, a resident of the Spring Valley Nursing Center for the past two and one-half years, formerly of Ottville, died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at the nursing center.
Born March 11, 1920, in Spring Valley to Thomas and Florence (Swan) Champley, she married John “Bat” Piccatto June 7, 1939, at the Seatonville Congregational Church (Independent). He died Aug. 21, 2003.
She was a 1938 graduate of Hall High School. She worked at Bassick’s in Spring Valley as a timekeeper until retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the Seatonville Congregational Church (Independent).
Surviving are one son, John (Jane) Piccatto of Ottville; two daughters, Nancy (James) Starkey and Pat (Dennis) Galetti, both of Seatonville; nine grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Michael Slutz officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
