Drum circle event

UTICA — A drum circle event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 on the pool patio at the Starved Rock Lodge in Utica.

The sound of many hands drumming will echo throughout Starved Rock as Dave Peterson and Dick Verucchi lead drummers in rythmic drumming patterns for two hours. In the event of rain, the drum circle will be rescheduled.

Participants are invited to bring their own drums or use the ones available at the event. There are plenty of drums and percussion instruments for all. Explore the "roots of rhythm" and learn to play the West African djembe, the ashiko and the dundunba.

All ages are welcome to come and enjoy an afternoon of interactive, creative music making.
