Cruise night benefit
PRINCETON — A Cruise Night benefit will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. There will be a car parade starting at 8:45 p.m. A gate donation of $2 will go the Bureau County Food Pantry. The event will include food, Best of Cruise awards, dash plaques, 50/50 drawing and door prizes.
PHS band alumni
PRINCETON — Princeton High School band alumni are invited to join the PHS band on the football field Sept. 18 to celebrate homecoming. Those interested should report at 5:15 p.m., or as early as you can get there, in the PHS choir room. Flea market
PRINCETON — The Homestead Festival flea market will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. Adult admission is $1 and children are admitted free. Selling spaces are still available by calling (815) 875-2606 after 5 p.m. The flea market for October will be Oct. 18.
Bags tournament
SPRING VALLEY — The Hall Athletic Parents Club will sponsor a bags tournament Sept. 26 at Kirby Park in Spring Valley starting at 11 a.m. A bags team will consist of two players and there is a registration fee of $20. Interested parties must be 21 to enter. For more information, or to register, call Doug Colmone or Paul Quinn, HAPC members.
I.D. theft program
LADD — A program to avoid identity theft will be at 6 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ladd Public Library. Deb Schultz of North Central Bank will educate the community on identity theft.
Veterans invited to take part in parade
PRINCETON — The American Legion Post 125 Color Guard is extending an invitation to any veteran in the area to join the Color Guard as they step off the Homestead Festival parade at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Line-up is at North Main Street and Marquette, Nelson’s Drug Store parking lot. For more information, call Bob Doyle, post commander, at (815) 875-1352.
Cookout
WYANET — A cookout hosted by the Believe Foundation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Wyanet Locker. The Foundation provides area cancer patients with wigs at no cost.
Pancake breakfast
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, ham, eggs, toast, coffee and juice. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6-10. Proceeds will go to the LCHS girls’ basketball fund.
Genealogy meeting
OTTAWA — The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Guild Library, 115 W. Glover St. in Ottawa. Speaker will be David Youngquist, the author of the book “Ghost Stories of Route 80.” He will speak on ghost stories of the Illinois Canal System.
Festival
FRANKLIN GROVE — The Conservancy’s Nachusa Grasslands preserve will present its annual Autumn on the Prairie festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 19.
Legion meeting
SPRING VALLEY — The American Legion Dominic O’Berto Post will meet at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Knights of Columbus Club, 307 W. St. Paul St., Spring Valley.
