Taking the pain out of propane

The Wyanet Fire Department hosted a training session on the proper techniques needed to put out a propane fire. Wally Curtin, Mark Clapp and Greg Lauf, representatives from the Fire Science Department at the University of Illinois, Champaign, gave the demonstration/presentation. The exercise was sponsored by the Illinois Propane Association. Michlig Ag in Manlius supplied the propane. Other area fire departments participating in the training exercise were Buda, Manlius, Walnut, Sheffield, Mineral, Neponset and Tiskilwa. The Wyanet Rescue Unit also attended. Firefighters each had an opportunity to put out the propane fire.
