PRINCETON — An after-school craft day will be rom 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Princeton Public Library. The book club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.
A preschool story hour will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, and the theme will be fruits and vegetables. The program will be in the Youth Services Department. Preschool children and their parents or guardians are welcome.
Youth Services will celebrate the birthday of author Roald Dahl throughout the month of September. Each Tuesday, Rachel Bystry will read chapters from one of Dahl’s books from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Each Wednesday, Youth Services will show a Dahl movie at 3:30 p.m.
DEPUE — The Selby Township Library at DePue will host a flu clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 5. Registration is not required. The clinic is sponsored by St. Margaret’s Hospital. The cost for the flu shots is $25, however, Medicare will be accepted. To receive a flu shot, you must be 18 years of age or older. Please note the flu shot does not include the H1N1 virus, as those are not available at this time.
Through a program from Ameren Illinois, the library has received a kilowatt meter that can be checked out by patrons. This meter can be used to determine how much electricity is being used by home appliances like lamps. This is part of a program to promote energy conservation.
The library has a new display of sale items. If you are looking for VHS tapes, stop by and see what is available. They are just 50 cents each. Also, many books are available for sale at just $1 each.

SPRING VALLEY — The Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library will hold story times featuring author Kate McMullan Tuesdays throughout September. From 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, guest reader Monte Moreno will visit with his backhoe end loader and read the story “I’m Dirty.”
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille-Clarion Library would like to invite the public to an informational program on the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30. This program will be presented by Sue Gorman, RN, infection control nurse at Perry Memorial Hospital.

LADD — There will be an organizational meeting at the Ladd Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for the book club the library is hoping to start. At the meeting, the group will discuss permanent meeting times and selection of books to read. All adults are welcome to join.
The library would also like to thank Deb Schultz from North Central Bank for presenting a program on identity theft. All in attendance agreed they learned some valuable information on the topic.
Also, the library holds preschool story times on the first and third Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. These programs are designed for preschool aged children with a parent and include stories, activities and a craft.
SHEFFIELD — On Friday and Saturday, during the Sheffield townwide garage sales, there will be a sale to benefit the Sheffield Public Library at 137 E. North St. There will also be baked goods available. The sale will open both days at 8 a.m.
MINERAL — The Book Discussion at the Mineral Gold Library will meet on Tuesdays from 2 to 3 p.m. Contact the library for more information.
