Rice celebrates 90th birthday

Mildred Rice of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Bureau Township, will celebrate her 90th birthday Oct. 28.
Mildred was born in southwest Kansas in 1919. She married the Rev. Randall Rice in Dodge City, Kan., on March 28, 1938, and together they served pastorates in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Ohio and Illinois.
Mildred has an assistant medical office degree and did private duty nursing in Colorado and Kansas, and was a nurse assistant at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. She taught Sunday school throughout her adult years and was a gracious hostess of visiting guests. She remains active in her church, enjoys historic reading, attends a book club and works genealogy of her family.
Mildred has four children, Pat (Ron) Lorenzen of Princeton, Phillis (Dwight) Sholl of Sturgis, Mich., Dr. Phillip (Ruth) Rice of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lois (David) Steward of Overland Park, Kan. She also has 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
