Annual meeting

PRINCETON — The annual meeting of the Bureau County Fair will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Allen Building at the fairgrounds. Life members are invited to attend. Directors from each of the townships in Bureau County will be elected and the 2009 Bureau County Fair will be reviewed.

Toy drive

PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will conduct its fourth annual toy drive Nov. 1-Dec. 12. Toys can be dropped off for children ages birth to 12 years at the Legion Post vestibule during this time. All toys collected will be distributed to children in Bureau County who are less fortunate. GFWC meeting

PRINCETON — The GFWC Woman’s Club of Princeton will meet at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 12 with a special program at the Bureau County Courthouse. Access to the courthouse meeting room is by entering the west door and taking the elevator to the second floor. There will be a presentation given by Bureau County Board member Rick Wilkin followed by a tour of the Bureau County Jail. The meeting will continue at the Prouty Building at about 2:30 p.m. with the club business meeting and social time. For more information, call Bonnie Schutt at (815) 875-1065 or Jo Kloster at (815) 872-9171. Annual supper

PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will hold its sixth annual ham supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the post home. The menu will include baked ham, potatoes, hot vegetables, dinner rolls, salads, coffee and iced tea. There will also be a 50/50 drawing. Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $7 for adults, $3 for ages 6-10. This is a major fundraiser for the Unit to continue its veterans programs for local and those troops overseas.

Special event

TAMPICO — The Tampico Area Historical Society will sponsor a “Mexican Train Domino” play time on Oct. 25 at the Tampico Community Building with play beginning at 4:30 p.m. A donation of $5 to play will include refreshments and door prizes.
