PRINCETON — Morton "Mort" Lee Landreth, 82, of Princeton died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
He was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Naperville to Morton Lee Landreth and Ruth (Kennedy) Landreth. He was educated in schools in Texas and Illinois. He married Ethel Burman Oct. 16, 1993, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. They moved to Princeton in 1995.
He was a proud member of the DuPage County Department of Roads as a traffic engineer for sign development and placement. He was actively involved in Princeton Rotary and Rotary International for 19 years. He was a Rotary Benefactor, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary and a 2006 recipient of the “Service Above Self” award. He was a former member of the Princeton Zoning Commission and the Princeton Optimist Club. He was a member of the Regional Amtrak Advisory Board and the Ronald Reagan Trail Committee. He was an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of Princeton; four stepchildren, Sylvia (Richard) Steffen of Jewell, Iowa; Al (Chris) Luloff of Cary, Ill., Marsha (Robert) St. John of Cleveland, Tenn., and James (Lynn) Luloff of Decorah, Iowa; two sisters, Emily Brumble of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Julia Schaffer of Elmhurst; eight stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Will Landreth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Jeffery Schlesinger officiating. Burial will be in Rock Lily Cemetery in Winslow.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton.
