PALATINE — Thomas Joseph Mack, 44, of Palatine, formerly of Ladd, died at 6:31 p.m. Monday, Oct, 19, 2009, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

He was born in Spring Valley on June 18,1965, to Robert and Karen Savio Mack.

He was a staff hardware engineer with Arris in Lisle. He graduated from Hall High School, Illinois Valley Community College, University of Illinois, and earned a master's degree with Northwest University in mechanical engineering. He developed two patents for the discovery of a method and apparatus for cabling equipment.

He is survived by his parents of Ladd; fiance Mary Oelkers of Park Ridge; one son, Colby Mack of Palatine; two brothers, Tim Mack of O'Fallon, Mo.. and Terry (Beth) Mack of Peru; one sister, Tracy Zellmer of Hinsdale; and two nephews, Kyle and Brenden Mack of Peru.

He was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, Charles and Catherine Savio and Ray and Louise Mack and one aunt, Karyl Mack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church in Spring Valley at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Harold Datzman, OSB, officiating. Cremation will follow services with his ashes to be buried in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd.
