Tigresses fall in State Tennis Meet
Mother Nature has rained on the Princeton Tigresses' state tennis parade.
All four of the Princeton teams have been eliminated from the IHSA State Tennis Meet in surburban Chicago Thursday. Early morning rain showers forced IHSA officials to move all matches indoors, cutting the tournament back to single-elimination instead of double-elimination with no consolation round.
Senior Evinne Dimmig was the only PHS player to pick up a win.The Tigresses' No. 1 singles won her first match, defeating Lauren Hoekstra of Effingham 6-1, 6-4. Dimming then fell 6-1, 6-2 to Sara Kohtz of Lincoln Park and was eliminated.
Also sent to the Score Tennis and Fitness Club in Countryside, Ill. was the doubles team of Tristan Hicks and Emiley Brand. They lost to the Libertyville duo of Meghan Ahlgrim and Mary Kate Lee 6-1, 6-3.
PHS' Alex Beetz was the first to play, losing her match 6-0, 6-0 to Emily Myers of Naperville Nequa Valley in Mt. Prospect.
Nearby in Schaumburg, the PHS doubles of Courtney Schafer and Lindsey Frank fell to Renee Lepine and Meredith Abrahamson of Wilmette Loyola Academy 6-2, 6-1.
