PERU — Anthony Muzzarelli, 90, of 1321 Maple Drive, Peru, formerly of DePue, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at home.
Born Aug. 2, 1919, in Spring Valley to Victor and Mary (Fassino) Muzzarelli, he married Florence “Betty” Schmieding Nov. 2, 1947, at St. Mary’s Church Rectory in DePue. She survives of Peru.
He was self employed as the co-owner of Muzzarelli Brothers Grocery Store in DePue until retiring. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in DePue, the DePue VFW and American Legion. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre and a recipient of a Bronze Star. He was a graduate of DePue High School.
Also surviving are one daughter, Lynn (Bernie) Victor of Ladd; one son, Greg Muzzarelli of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Louis “Bud” Muzzarelli of DePue; one sister, Virginia Ciborski of DePue; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Barto Funeral Home in DePue with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in DePue, the Rev. Kevin Creegan officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
