St. Bede 2, Putnam County 0: The Lady Panthers gave the host Lady Bruins a battle to the end before falling 27-25 in the first set. St. Bede had a little more breathing room in the second set with a 25-15 victory.
Kayla MacDavitt led the Lady Bruins (16-11-2, 7-2) with five kills and two blocks; Molly Scott had a team-high nine digs and Jillian Stariha served for nine points.
Hall 2, Kewanee 1: The Lady Red Devils dropped the first set to the Boilermakers Thursday 26-28, but rallied to take the match 25-21, 25-17.
Boys’ soccer
Princeton Sectional: Earlville/Leland and Rockford Keith Country Day School will meet in Tuesday’s sectional finals in Tiskilwa after posting semifinals wins Thursday in the rain.
Earlville/Leland blanked Monmouth-Roseville 3-0 in the opener. M-R had kept the host Tigers from coming home with a 2-1 defeat in Tuesday’s regional finals.
Rockford Keith Country Day edged Herscher 2-1.
Tuesday’s finals will start at 7 p.m.
Junior high basketball
At Ladd: Kyle Quick had 17 points to lead the Ladd seventh-graders to a 43-8 win over Malden. Blake Thompson had all eight points for the Musketeers. Collin Aimone had 12 points and Quick added nine for the Ladd eighth-graders in a 47-6 win.
At Walnut: Bureau Valley North and LaMoille played to a 37-26 battle in the first game of the eighth-grade season Thursday. Tyler Barnas had 27 points for BVN. BVN won the seventh-grade game 45-9 behind Tommy Johnston (19) and Josh Mead (12).
