Breakfast planned
PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans’ all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast will be from 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 at the American Legion Building, 1549 W. Peru St. in Princeton. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for ages 4-12. This is a major fundraiser for the group.
Meeting set
WYANET — The Wyanet Golden Eagles will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Main Street Barbecue. Lunch is on your own. All Wyanet seniors over 50 are welcome. Make reservations at (815) 699-7001 by Friday.
Auxiliary workshop
PRINCETON — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 “Overseas Troops Christmas Box”

Blood drive
PRINCETON — The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will hold an MTM Recognition blood drive from 2:15 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5 in the MVRBC donor bus at 615 S. Sixth St. Donors who last gave blood on or before Sept. 10 are eligible. Donors must be 16 years old, in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other photo I.D. is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form, available from blood center offices or its Web site www.bloodcenter.org. Controlled high blood pressure and diabetics are acceptable. To donate, call Ginny Bollinger at (815) 876-2603.
Book club meeting
PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. Nov. 12 in the library’s staff room. The group will discuss “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett. The staff at the library will be glad to assist anyone in borrowing this book. Anyone is invited to join the group, sponsored by Friends of Princeton Public Library, in discussing this book.
Book sale
PRINCETON — Friends of Strays will hold a giant book sale from 8 a.m. to p.m. Nov. 7 at the Friends of Strays shelter, 2845 N. Main St.
Review course
PRINCETON — A Rules of the Road class will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Bureau County Senior Center. A representative from the Secretary of State’s office will teach the class. No appointment is needed to attend. This class will help prepare those who are close to renewing their driver’s license. Genealogy meeting
OTTAWA — The public is invited to participate in the 30th anniversary of the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Guild, 115 W. Glover St., Ottawa. Refreshments will be served.
PADS meeting
PERU — PADS, the local homeless shelter, will hold its monthly board of directors meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 9. The meeting will be at Lily PADS Boutique, 4471 Progress Boulevard. Anyone interested in serving on the board of directors for Illinois Valley PADS and has experience in not-for-profit organizations is asked to consider attending the Nov. 9 meeting.
